Day 10 - We are ready to go home

We have tried to 'soak' in the Chinese culture over the past 2 weeks. We have eaten more Chinese food then I have probably eaten in my entire life in the span of 2 weeks. We have learned everything we could from our guides.  Today we broke down today and ate this...

We are ready to come home.  The last two nights Emma has woken up  at midnight, 2, 4, and up for the day at 6 am.  She wakes up confused as to where she is and who we are. I don't blame her.  I wake up and wonder where the heck I am. We are exhausted  - both emotionally and physically. Being away from our DD Lexie for this long has taken it's toll.  It is time for us to close out this chapter of our adoption.

Oh yeah, we did have Emma's consulate appt today as well. All went as planned -- tomorrow we get her visa and she will be a US citizen when we land.

Tomorrow at 4:30 we will be heading to HK.  Our next post should be our last from China!

Hang in there! I can only imagine how exhausting this has all been, including all the prep before you got to China. You're almost done and soon will be home with Lexie again. Thinking of you from cold Michigan. -Bronwyn

cant wait to see you as a whole family with Lexi with you!!! So excited for you and totally undedrstnad the last few days of the trip and the homesickness that sets in. I was exhausted and longing to see my other kids. You are doing great and so is Emma. Sorry about the sleep deprivation but it should get better once home.

Good luck and cant wait to see your next post!

Wait, you're coming home? Does that mean, I should clean up/wash clothes/brush Lexie's hair?!

I remember that feeling well and we were just in Thailand for 10 days! I can't wait for you to be home...a family of four! And just get on with the business of becoming family in the day to day way! I'm sure that will help Miss Emma tremendously! Congrats on your CA and safe travels home!

Nothing wrong with breaking down and getting McD's. Sometimes it's not so much about the food as it is the whole PROCESS of getting fed in China -- choosing from totally foreign options, finding a place with a menu you can understand, being understood when you put in your order. Yunnan crispy red beans beat a Big Mac hands down, but sometimes you want to just walk up to a counter and order...
